Yeast Infection: How To Get Rid Of It

A yeast infection also known as thrush or candidiasis is a health complication brought about by a fungal infection of the candida species. The most common fungi being candida albicans commonly referred to as a yeast infection and in other places called moniliasis, candidiasis and oidiomycosis.It is attributable to certain infections such as cancer, AIDS and transplants.

This condition causes an inflammation on the skin and discomforts. Among the many serious and evident symptoms of a yeast infection which depends on the surface affected. Mostly, the condition attacks the aesophagus, pharynx, urinary bladder, oral cavity and also the genitalia majorly the penis and vagina.

On these surfaces, reddening occurs which may be followed by red spots and inflammation causing pain and discomfort to the infected person.
To the extreme cases, it may be fatal and eventually lead to death if not early diagnosed, properly treated and nursed properly.

There are some known cures to the condition which include:

1. Probiotics

These are bacteria which are well known to be beneficial to the health well being of human beings as they posses some health benefits which may boost the immune system of an individual. They are found in yogurt and other fermented foods such as cheese, kefir and raw sauerkraut.

They work in two ways in strengthening the body. One is by boosting the immune system to fight against threats and secondly, as they circulate in the human body, they prevent some micro organisms such as yeast from uncontrolled reproducing and multiplying. Therefore it is advisable o take probiotic supplements as they can stop the yeast infection.

2. Use OTC Medications

When already diagnosed with the infection. It is advisable that the treatment should begin as fast as possible to reduce chances of the reproductive system becoming damaged as well as irritation of the urinary system.

The most well known antifungal drugs are clotrimazole, fluconazole, tioconazole and nystatin which are sold in many forms such as sprays, creams, oils and vaginal suppositories. It is advisable to shower first, wash the surface and wipe dry with a clean piece of cloth and apply the proffered medication.

For vaginal infections, it is advisable to use medication just before bedtime as the horizontal position and prolonged inactivity will give more time for the treatment to work.

3. Avoid Tight Clothing

Tight clothes may preferably be fashionable and more less comfortable. It is a not to do thing when undergoing yeast infection treatment. Tight dressings trap moisture and heat on the skin which allows quick development of yeast unknowingly. Furthermore, irritations are more likely to occur with tight clothing than lose clothes.

4. Neem Oil

The Indian Neem tree provides neem oil which is squeezed from its leaves which is well known as the village pharmacy. It is known to be a killer of many fungal infections and one of them yeast infection. For vaginal infections, a clean piece of cloth is soaked in it rubbed in the vaginal walls for a period of three days. It may also be used to treat other surfaces such as the skin.

5. Garlic

Garlic is widely known to posses curative substances and chemicals in the medical industry. One of the uses of garlic is to cureyeast infections. For oral thrush, raw garlic may be chewed and in vaginal thrush, a whole clove may be inserted every night until the infection disappears.garlic oil is in form of supplements and may show better results than a clove.

6. Tea Tree Oil

Also known as malaleuca, tea tree oil which is made from leaves of a native tree in Australia. More less like the neem oil. The tea tree oil possesses antifungal properties which were since long ago used by the native people in curing fungal infections. It can be used in the same manner as the neem oil and it is also a remedy to skin infections as it possesses the pleasant and mild fragrance.

7. Wash Regularly

Personal hygiene is very essential in controlling fungal infections as yeast develops quickly with dirty environments and this can also lead to more infections to set in.
